The summer welcomes the re-opening of outdoor farmer’s markets and we are so lucky here in Saint John to have a beautiful market that sets up in Queen Square. Every Sunday, from 9am – 2pm, many talented people from Saint John and surrounding areas bring their goods to share at the Queen Square Farmers Market, and they are definitely worth checking out.
The vendors at the market are not only hardworking and creative, they are impeccably organized. Most travel to various markets throughout the province, packing up and moving their pop up shop daily.
There is a great variety of products and food available at the Queen Square Farmers Market and you will certainly not leave hungry. Vendors showcase cheese, oat cakes, breakfast sandwiches, fresh produce, colourful bouquets of flowers, handmade goods, vegan delights, fresh brewed coffee and so much more. Currently, my go to’s are freshly made lemonade from Tall Tom’s and the crispy dumplings from YanZiWo Chinesefood (pictured below). I’m also very excited that Saint John Vegolution now has a booth featuring their healthy homemade meals and treats. Last week I tried their medley of dried fruit and peanut butter squares – heavenly!
Cute displays, the pretty pink In Pursuit mobile boutique and live music all add to the ambiance of this lovely little market (not to mention the very talented balloon animal creator who is a favourite among the youngsters). I always leave with fresh flowers from Savage Gardens and love that I can count on bumping into friends. It is a great spot to grab lunch on the go or to linger for hours, grazing on all the delightful snacks.
Meet you there tomorrow? I’ll be there and hope to see you!
Happy Saturday xx
